What skills/concepts were challenging?
When this unit was first introduced I had no idea what was going on. I knew I had learned this topic before but I have always found it difficult. I never understood what resistors were. I thought I knew what they were but after reviewing the test I realized that I wasn’t quite sure. Also,
How did you overcome these challenges?
I felt that watching the episodes about this topic was very helpful. Also the hands on demonstrations and circuits helped visually see it. All of the practice worksheets also helped me prepare for the test and understand and practice the concepts more. Also, in my lab group we each were better at different topics so we helped eachother out a lot and explained what we knew.
What areas did you experience success and/or mastery?
Drawing circuits came pretty easily to me once I learned the different symbols and where to put them. The equation for resistance was very easy to remember. It helped me a lot to draw the triangle. Once I memorized the equation for each circuit they were so easy to use. The sudoku also helped me when figuring out the missing numbers for each circuit.
What piece of work are you most proud of?
We have not done many projects recently, However; I am proud of how much better I am doing this semester compared to last. I have focused more and understood everything. Also I have actually learned a lot and not just for a test, I learned a lot that apply to real life and I will remember for a while.
What do you wish you had done differently?
In this unit, I wish that I had gone in for extra help on the things that I didn’t understand. I tend to wait last minute for everything and that is a really bad habit. I wish I had focused a little more on the labs and tried a little harder on some of the home work.
What did you learn this month?
This month I have learned a lot about electricity, current, voltage, circuits and so much more. Not only did I learn physics though. I learned how to support my claims with evidence and reasoning. Also I learned how knowing why something is the answer is much more important than knowing the actual answer.
